Adhesion in Bacteria
نویسنده
چکیده
Adhesins are cell surface component or appendages in bacteria that facilitate bacterial adhesion or adherence to other cell or to inanimate surface .adhesions are a type of virulence factor.there are various types of adhesion that are seen in bacter ia which enhances the capacity to produce diseases in man and animals, in this review we shall see the molecular basis of ad hesion of various bacterial to cell surfaces

Hydrophobicity effect on oil degradation by two marine bacterial strains Alcanivorax borkumensis and Thalassolituus oleivorans
Variations on hydrophobicity were monitored in two marine obligate hydrocarbonoclastic bacteria: Alcanivorax borkumensis SK2T and Thalassolituus oleivoras MIL-1T. These strains were inoculated, separately in ONR7a mineral medium with different concentration of sodium acetate. During 10 days measurements of cellular abundance and cellular hydrophobicity (capacity to adhere at polystyrene) were c...
متن کاملProbiotic Enterococcus durans Interference with Oral Candida albicans Adhesion: An in vitro Study
Background and Objectives: Candida species is one of the commensal microorganisms and a member of the oral cavity normal flora. In addition, Candida albicans is a microbiologic member of the oral cavity in children with dental caries. Currently, use of probiotics as a new biologic technique has attracted attention in order to prevent and control diseases. Enterococcus durans has shown useful an...
متن کاملEvaluation of lactic acid bacteria isolated from poultry feces as potential probiotic and its in vitro competitive activity against Salmonella typhimurium
The efficacy of probiotics as alternatives to antibiotics has been defined as one of the potential strategies to prevent Salmonella spp. infection in poultry. The purpose of this study was to isolate probiotic native Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) with high compatibility to intestinal tract and prevention of Salmonella typhimuriumfrom broiler chicken feces. Thirty-seven samples of...
متن کاملQuorum quenching for the management of dental plaque microbes
In the present study, variation among different bacterial strains was observed in the plaques of tobacco chewers (TC) as compared to those from normal persons (non tobacco chewers) (NTC). Bacterial strain J1 (dominant in the plaques of NTC) did not initiate the process of adhesion (biofilm formation) until it appeared to have reached a required population density necessary for the production of...
متن کاملAdhesion of Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans to a human oral cell line.
Two quantitative, rapid assays were developed to study the adhesion of Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans, an oral bacterium associated with periodontal disease, to human epithelial cells. The human oral carcinoma cell line KB was grown in microtiter plates, and adherent bacteria were detected by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay with purified anti-A. actinomycetemcomitans serum and horser...
متن کاملThe Relationship between Cell Surface Hydrophobicity and Antibiotic Resistance of Streptococcal Strains Isolated from Dental Plaque and Caries
Objective Bacterial adhesion is governed by specific and nonspecific interactions such as hydrophobicity. Hydrophobic interactions play a role in the adherence of microorganisms to a wide variety of surfaces and facilitate biofilm formation due to bacterial adhesion. In this article the relation between cell surface hydrophobicity and antibiotic resistance was studied. Materials and Methods ...
